I have some more incredible news! On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, I received the award for Trial Judge of the Year from the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists (TACTAS). I shared the evening with their Appellate Judge of the Year honoree, Justice Eva Guzman of the Texas Supreme Court. I could not have been more proud. It is a highlight of my career and I will cherish the award forever.
Here are some pictures from the evening:
WELL, THIS HAPPENED:
It HAPPENED. I won an award! I never win awards. I finally did. My mother always said, “patience is a virtue.” Well, I must be super virtuous.
And this is actually true! I was recently informed that I have been awarded the 2016 PUBLIC SECTOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD by the University of Houston Law Center (my law school alma mater! Go Coogs!) Alumni Association in recognition of exceptional achievement in public service.
The ceremony is Saturday, April 2, 2016 right before the start of the University of Houston Law Center 40th Annual Gala & Auction.
As I always say, I love my job and the people I work with and the people I get to serve. Winning this award means the world to me and my family. I view it is as recognition that I am putting the voters, the litigants, and the hard working attorneys first, and providing a fair and efficient forum for them to have their day in court.
Thank you to the University of Houston Law Center Alumni Association and to my supporters from the bottom of my heart for this great honor.
Thanks,
Mike Engelhart
I am very pleased with the Houston Bar Association Judicial Qualification Poll results. I was rated “Well Qualfied” by 6 1/2 times as many HBA members as my nearest opponent, and by 51 times as many HBA members as my other opponent. In raw numbers, the rating was 510 (me) to 79 to 10 “well-qualified” amongst the three of us.
Thank you to the HBA members for your confidence in my abilities.
As a reminder, the Bar Polls are NOT endorsements of any candidate by the Houston Bar Association or its members.
The full results are HERE.
Our Campaign is very proud to list the following endorsements for the 2016 Democratic Primary and the November election (where noted). Thank you all so much!
BAY AREA NEW DEMOCRATS
AREA 5 DEMOCRATS
HOUSTON STONEWALL YOUNG DEMOCRATS
LATINO LABOR LEADERSHIP COUNSEL (Primary & General)
CONSTABLE ALAN ROSEN (Primary & General)
Our campaign is very proud to announce that Judge Mike Engelhart has been unanimously endorsed for re-election in 2016 by the Latino Labor Leadership Council of Southeast Texas! Thank you very much to the men and women of the Council. Judge Engelhart is especially proud of this endorsement because of his family’s historic ties to the labor movement.
I am proud to have been endorsed by Harris County Precinct 1 Constable, Alan Rosen. As a judge, it is a priority for me to follow the law and to enforce it. I am especially proud of Constable Rosen’s endorsement because of his crucial role in law enforcement, and for his recognition of our Court’s role in the civil justice work done by his office.
HBA Bar Poll Results are out! Please look at my results. I am most proud of my scores in (1) works hard and is prepared, (2) uses attorneys’ time well, and (3) treats lawyers and witnesses courteously, and (4) follows the law. I am grateful for the bar’s support. (Bar polls are not to be considered endorsements.)
